$1.4 Trillion India’s Black Money Stashed in Swiss Banks
According to the data provided by the Swiss bank, India has more black money than rest of the world combined. India topping the list with almost $1500 Billion black money in swiss banks, followed by Russia $470 Billion, UK $390 Billion, Ukraine $100 Billion and China with $96 Billion.
It’s embarrassing for any country to top the list of black money holders. The money which belongs to the nation and it’s citizens, is stashed in the illegal personal accounts of corrupt politicians, IRS, IPS officers and industrialists. An amount which is 13 times larger than the nations foreign debt. Every year this amount is increasing at a rapid speed but the Indian government seem to be silent over this matter from a very long time. The total black money accounts for 40% of GDP of India, if all the money comes back to India then that could result in huge growth burst for India.
A nation where more than 450 million live below the poverty line. By bringing back the black 
money back to the country there is so much which can be done for the development of the nation and the people who live below poverty line. India will also be able to clear all their foreign debts in 24Hrs. Even if all the taxes are abolished, the government can maintain the country easily for 30 years.
It’s been found that about 80 thousand people travel to Switzerland every year of whom around 25 thousand travel frequently. Those travelling on regular basis must be doing it for some reason.
The Indian government needs to take some serious steps to get the money back to India which is stashed in Swiss banks. They should work to find out the names of account holders in Swiss banks and also pressurize Swiss bank to get the black money back to the country. This has also become a matter of pride of nation and if the government still keeps silence about this issue then they will only be making themselves a laughing stock for the entire world.

All this makes the whole debate defunct, full of unreliability and spread largely based on the internet Wikileak that has a warning on the accuracy and operates where no one can take actions against their contents if they are wrong. The second most appealing thing in the campaign is that it is absolutely unclear what is illegal money. A very large number of Indians live outside India. Professionals and Businessmen and so on. They have same names and also have the right to earn commission which they can deposit in the Swiss Bank. For India to claim back any money first it needs to prove that an individual of Indian citizen has earned money that should have been accounted in the tax system in India or laundering funds for illegal activities. If names are obtained as a result of treaty between the governments of agreement between two Ministers it needs to examined by the Indian agencies before any actions are taken. In any case, people would have moved their money by now knowing that could be at risk so by the time the legal process is completed the money is gone any way. It does not mean one should not try but it has to follow a proper route. What I heard that three economic think-tanks — NIPFP, NIFM and NCAER — have been mandated to make independent and dependable assessments of the quantum of black money in the country. The Minister has the names are being investigated. So what is Ramdevbab is all about? We are not USA to have that much influence across the glob yet!

The Indian government needs to take some serious steps to get the money back to India which is stashed in the illegal personal accounts of corrupt politicians, IAS,IRS, IPS officers and industrialists in Swiss banks as black money,because the money belongs to the India and its citizens.
The Indian government should also made a strict rule by which the further money deposits in foreign country should be stopped,because a resident Indian citizen is not allowed to own a foreign currency deposit in any country.

This is the approximate figure that we know about because swiss bank has not released any bank statement about the figure.

I completely agree with Jay. I think if all the youth of India come together and protest, possibly in the form of a non-violent but indefinite strike, then sooner or later, the government will have to take notice. The older generation often has political loyalties based on the wrong reasons, and would therefore not consider protesting on a large scale. It’s the students of the country who must unite for this cause. And since retrieval of the black money and its PROPER distribution would result in India’s debt being cleared, poverty being eradicated and several very necessary measures that require financial aid being put into action, this cause is of absolute importance. Egypt’s recent uprising aught to be an inspiration to us to rise up against the corruption of politics and bring in true democracy and sustainable development.

Our politicians especially congressmen are giving us lame excuses as treaties dont allow them to disclose the information. Baba Ramdev and many other revered personalities have raged a war against blackmoney but that is not in the news.
Not even a single electronic media covered Ramdev’s protest rally in Delhi on 27th Feb where more than 1 lakh people came to support this cause.

This is so shocking…. ….If black money deposits was an Olympics event…. India would have won a gold medal hands down. The second best Russia has 4 times lesser deposit. U.S. is not even there in the counting in top five! India has more money in Swiss banks than all the other countries combined!
Recently, due to international pressure, the Swiss government agreed to disclose the names of the account holders only if the respective governments formally asked for it.. Indian government is not asking for the details….. ..no marks for guessing why?
We need to start a movement to pressurise the government to do so! This is perhaps the only way, and a golden opportunity, to expose the high and mighty and weed out corruption!
Please read on……and forward to all the honest Indians to…..like somebody is forwarding to you…….and build a ground-swell of support for action ! Is India poor, who says? Ask the Swiss banks. With personal account deposit bank of $1,500 billion in foreign reserve which have been misappropriated, an amount 13 times larger than the country’s foreign debt, one needs to rethink if India is a poor country?
DISHONEST INDUSTRIALISTS, scandalous politicians and corrupt IAS, IRS, IPS officers have deposited in foreign banks in their illegal personal accounts a sum of about $1500 billion, which have been misappropriated by them. This amount is about 13 times larger than the country’s foreign debt. With this amount 45 crore poor people can get Rs 1,00,000 each.
This huge amount has been appropriated from the people of India by exploiting and betraying them. Once this huge amount of black money and property comes back to India , the entire foreign debt can be repaid in 24 hours. After paying the entire foreign debt, we will have surplus amount, almost 12 times larger than the foreign debt. If this surplus amount is invested in earning interest, the amount of interest will be more than the annual budget of the Central government. So even if all the taxes are abolished, then also the Central government will be able to maintain the country very comfortably.
Some 80,000 people travel to Switzerland every year, of whom 25,000 travel very frequently. ‘Obviously, these people won’t be tourists.. They must be travelling there for some other reason,’ believes an official involved in tracking illegal money.. And, clearly, he isn’t referring to the commerce ministry bureaucrats who’ve been flitting in and out of Geneva ever since the World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations went into a tailspin!
Just read the following details and note how these dishonest industrialists, scandalous politicians, corrupt officers, cricketers, film actors, illegal sex trade and protected wildlife operators, to name just a few, sucked this country’s wealth and prosperity. This may be the picture of deposits in Swiss banks only. What about other international banks ?

Can we bring back our money ? It is one of the biggest loots witnessed by mankind — the loot of the Aam Aadmi (common man) since 1947, by his brethren occupying public office. It has been orchestrated by politicians, bureaucrats and some businessmen.
The list is almost all-encompassing. No wonder, everyone in India loots with impunity and without any fear. What is even more depressing in that this ill-gotten wealth of ours has been stashed away abroad into secret bank accounts located in some of the world’s best known tax havens. And to that extent the Indian economy has been stripped of its wealth. Ordinary Indians may not be exactly aware of how such secret accounts operate and what are the rules and regulations that go on to govern such tax havens. However, one may well be aware of ‘Swiss bank accounts,’ the shorthand for murky dealings, secrecy and of course pilferage from developing countries into rich developed ones.
In fact, some finance experts and economists believe tax havens to be a conspiracy of the western world against the poor countries. By allowing the proliferation of tax havens in the twentieth century, the western world explicitly encourages the movement of scarce capital from the developing countries to the rich. In March 2005, the Tax Justice Network (TJN) published a research finding demonstrating that $11.5 trillion of personal wealth was held offshore by rich individuals across the globe.
The findings estimated that a large proportion of this wealth was managed from some 70 tax havens. Further, augmenting these studies of TJN, Raymond Baker — in his widely celebrated book titled ‘Capitalism’ s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money and How to Renew the Free Market System’ — estimates that at least $5 trillion have been shifted out of poorer countries to the West since the mid-1970.
It is further estimated by experts that one per cent of the world’s population holds more than 57 per cent of total global wealth, routing it invariably through these tax havens.
How much of this is from India is anybody’s guess.

The Indian Government should declare that all The account holders of Swiss bank should withdraw money and get back to India within the given period. Otherwise all Indian money Will be transfered to Indian Government.

Its around Rs 52000 per person .. but believe me even 52000/- per person is a lot .. if you consider that 40-45% are below poverty line .. and the many who are above are just barely so ..

1. Why will swiss bank loose its biggest source of money.
2. Its against the strict rules of the Swiss banks.
So u see there are many more reason. If it was possible then why wouldn’t the government do anything, its not that everyone is corrupt, the higher commands are not corrupt. Corruption is only at the lower levels not amongst the President and all !
The whole Hind want that money and we all know how important it is. But we should forget about getting that money back and should step towards making that money again all white.

what need to done for scams/scandals happening within India (like 2G, Sports, other) where millions of Crores Rupees are loss to the Govt. & to the public, where many of them are not giving proper tax.
Ex: How much any part spends for any election? How are they getting their that much money? What are there assets and what are their earnings? How any party is giving particular position/seat to their member’s. How is the earning of any Industrialist and how much they are giving for tax. How many is Govt. higher officer are good/currupt, there are lot to change in India. Looks like we just can dream/hope things get better, but as go on it might get worse. Not one/two/group of people/party can change this country.

Why media is unable to expose currupt people and bring them public notice/justice? Instead media just using the chance to get popular using the issue, cross questioning politician. Even they all know, there won’t be any outcome of the talk.
Million dollar question why do we have position called President. Courts are there to just push the things forwards, not for taking decision. Punishments are there just untill they get the bail. Penalties are not even 0.001% of loss. Many laws of the common people, are abused by missing wealthy people.
There are many questions, whom should we ask and are they going to act on it. Just the party changes, no one does nothing.
Currently India & Indian’s are growing only because of knowledge, education, IT, big investments from Foreign companies.
No or very less growth in aggreculture, industrial, common people. No growth from Politicians, Govt. Anyone can see the difference in Govt. offices (like Police station, Post Office, Road, Infrastructure, Bus Stops, Public Toilets) and Private building (like Shoppping malls, IT companies, Banks, Hospitals). Do we think, fund was not allocated. If yes, why those built like that. If not, where politician are putting all the money barrowed.
Where is proper Govt. office for Post Office, BSNL, Police, PWC, Electric Power etc. which functions properly on-time and do work normally. Where young & qualified people are umemployed, Govt. extending retirement for older people. Curruption flowing everywhere. How it get clean/who will clean/who can clean/where to start?

Do not ever look for any other positive alternative behaviour (values) to perform human way of parenthood, i.e. deliberately co-parenting of those children those are born out of ignorance, real poverty. All of us are being driven only by the very animal instinct. West Asian countries are stocking up grains, while countries like Iraq have already placed orders for 400,000 tonnes of wheat grain from the US. Following the trend, even Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia are exporting grains and Russia has even announced a complete ban on food grain exports. In this light, whatever our Finance Minister announced in his Union Budget 2011-12 had no meat with respect to restoration of food grain stock; neither was any attempt made to address the expected inflation that may creep in within the next few months. Leave aside announcing new plans to enhance food production and modernizing the dilapidated godowns, the FM didn’t even announce any concrete plans for speedy implementation of those agriculture development initiatives that were announced in the previous budget!

Do you know why Shivaji was great. Coz he was not a communal guy. He was ambitious and he was committed. He wanted power for himself. His court language was Persian till almost the very end. Now here it hurts me people use that great man’s name generally to promote a sectarian or a communal or a racist agenda. You have to be honest to get the black money back home. That can happen if you catch the real culprits and the big wigs not go after poor guys like that guy from Hyderabad/Bangalore, forget his name. Go after the big guns who have the clout.
Hey guys there is one way of stopping all this black money. Lower the tax rates. This has happened of the Leftist policies of Indian government of Nehru times of taxing the rich and hard working people who use their brains. I strongly urge that government should lower income tax for who use brains to earn.
Put a ceiling on income tax. Up to an annual income of Rs. 600,000 no body pays taxes. And above Rs. 600,000 to Rs. 1,200,000 they pay 10%, from Rs. 1,200,000 to 2,400,000 they pay12.5% and so on and no body should pay more than 15 to 25% of income tax maximum.
In that case nobody saves taxes at all. Now for political crimes it should be life imprisonment. No less. Relax in taxation but be strict on collection. For law abiding people there should be maximum benefits and relaxation.
Why should people who earn well should not be able display their wealth? If the tax system is good no body is going to hide his or her wealth. I don’t want Amitabh forced to hide his wealth in Switzerland by declaring his brother as an NRI? Ceiling on income tax is a good solution.
High time our taxation policy became humane.

Every time when we read about the block money ($1.5 Trillion) stashed in Swiss bank, we speak about “when we bring back the money, how many times we can repay the forging dept. How much money can be spending on development?”
But nobody (including the media) speaks about the effect of exchange rate against the US $, (INR 45) when the entire money is brought back to India,
My serious doubt is that so much money is kept outside the nation only to keep the value of INR at the lowest level.
There is every possibility when entire money returns to India the Rate of exchange shall be one rupee= one $,
For prosperity Indians need not go to other countries in the world, the world will come to India for the same, and all our problems will be get solved, we will become a developed nation and will also be called The super power.

Leaving every thing, what action has to be taken against those who have black money in swiss banks, it is more important that the money should come back to India so that it remains in India and in Indian banks. A date must be fixed for all those who have accounts in swiss banks to bring back black money to India by that date and if they do it them selves a sort of leniency be shown to them. I think this is fastest way to bring back all the money.Instead the govt first take action and then the money comes back , may take years.
The money must come back immediately.

If the government of India was to retrieve the 1.4 trillion dollars of black money sitting in the Swiss banks and distribute it? amongst its 1.1 billion citizens, each person will get $1,273. The government should create a national fund and each person collect a cheque for 63,650 rupees. A whole system should be setup using a national identification card, whereby every indian can come and pick up that cheque. The money owed to the minors becomes available to them when they turn 21. Just imagine, it will unleash the biggest economic boom the world has ever seen. This should be India’s tryst with destiny.
