How to Buy New Cell Phone Cheap

by on February 14, 2011

Cell phones are one of those gadgets which get outdated in few months. We spend a fair amount of money to buy the latest cell phone in market and in few months the resale value of the phone drops to half or sometimes even less than that. Well, there is not much we can do to change this but we can save money when buying new cell phone by following these simple rules:

Don’t Rush into Buying

It’s hard to stop yourself from getting your hands on new cell phone as it hits the market, but the wise thing is to wait for a week or two. Meanwhile check out the reviews of the cell phone and see what the experts have to say about it.  If there are any flaws in the product you will get to know about it and you can change your decision to some other cell phone model.

When a new product does well in the first week of it’s launch and continue to do well in market, in that case the company might claim the shortage in production due to huge demand and may increase the price. Companies do play these kinds of games often to boost their product/brand value.

Even in such cases it’s just the matter of days that the prices start to decline and then you can make your move. It’s always good to wait for a couple of weeks before you go to buy a new phone because in that time you will get to know everything about the cell phone model and you will be in a comfortable position to take your decision whether to buy it or not.

Save Money on Phone

Market Research

Get a price quote from different cell phone dealers and choose the one who is providing at the cheapest price. The price margin may not be huge but when it comes to saving every penny counts. However, while the phones may be a little older, you can get T-Mobile free cell phones when you sign up for a new contract.

Look up the Internet

You can find great deals on internet sitting at your home. The competition is huge on internet and different companies like eBay, Amazon, Newegg etc are always up with some discount offers and attractive schemes to attract the buyers. Find out your best deal on these sites.

Employers Discount

This will work for few of you only. If you have a friend or relative working in the same cell phone company then ask them to buy you a cell phone with their employers discount. You can save 20%-50%, depending upon the discount available to the employer.

If you aren’t attached to a contract carrier, then buying a phone cheap depends on which carrier you got with and the kind of options you are looking for. The best deals on phones usually happen either when take a contract, but then you have constantly wait for an upgrade. Prepaid companies like Net10 though offer refrubished phones with minute deals or other types of phones that are equally low cost and don’t require a contract so you can switch between phones based on use and price.
