Top Paying Careers Worth Considering

With the rising tuition costs, the improbability of career advancement in most positions, and the overall low wage jobs that the typical citizen takes to make a living, it’s time to crack down and settle for nothing less than a top paying career. Jobs are impermanent and risky.

Careers, especially top paying careers, are well worth academic and training risks and they are commonly long term positions. The following top careers are the occupations which make the most money per year. These careers are the ones that can pay off any loans and training it took to get the position within one to two years.

Anesthesiologists work in the medical field and specialist in administering anesthetic’s to patients before they are treated and make sure that they stay under during any operations.

Internists: $160,000 – $220,000 per year

Internists are physicians who specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. The duties begin by analyzing and diagnosing patients after consulting their medical history and range from prescribing medicine to performing surgery.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist: $200,000 – $210,000 per year

Obstetrics and Gynecologists are specialists who work with the medical practices of female health, mainly the female reproductive system. Obstetrics in particular take special care to the female reproductive parts while pregnant.

Radiologists: $320,000 – $470,000 per year

Radiology is a medical specialty in which the radiologist diagnoses and treats diseases using radiologic technology. This means that they correlate various types of imaging with other examinations and tests to diagnose and treat a disease.

Chief Executive Director: $100,000 – $200,000 per year

The Chief Executive Director is in total charge of the management of the organization. They are the ones who make the biggest and final decisions and have to lead all of their employees which can sometimes be tens of thousands of people.

Registered Nurse: $60,000 – $85,000 per year

Registered nurses (NR’s) coordinate and focus on direct patient care by providing diet, exercise and all around health information. In addition, to the actual care for patients which can often be more work than simply taking a blood sample, they need to provide emotional support not only to their patients but the family members of the patients as well.

Orthodontists: $160,000 – $220,000 per year

Orthodontists are a specialty form of dentistry that focuses primarily on the alignment of teeth and readjustment of improper bites. The most general form of Orthodontics is related to getting braces but the career can be as broad as reconstructing more of the facial bone structure around the mouth.

Surgeons: $270,000 – $370,000 per year

While you can say Surgeons get paid to stand for long hours, the intensity is nearly unbearable for most. While they stand, they are operating on patients to treat and cure injuries and diseases such as broken bones, tumors and all other sorts of bodily problems.

Pediatricians: $150,000 – $190.00 per year

Known as the healers of children, Pediatricians handle all illnesses and diseases that occur in children, adolescents and infants which can sometimes be even more difficult than a regular practitioner due to lack of a proper immune system in younger children.

Dentists: $140,000 – $200,000 per year

Dentists focus on the care, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of any disease or disorder related to the oral cavity and the maxillofacial area. Primarily they focus on patient’s teeth and gums. The tasks can range from simply providing advice on how to take better care of their teeth to actually performing a form of oral surgery.

Petroleum Engineers: $100,000 – $190,000 per year

Petroleum engineers combine the profession of engineering and geographic sciences in order to create efficient ways to extract oil and gas from underground.

Psychiatrists: $170,000 – 230,000 per year

Psychiatrists are mental health professionals that conduct physical and mental examinations, analyze laboratory tests, and prescribe psychiatric medication for the treatment of any psychological disorders.

Lawyers: $110,000 – $220,000 per year

Lawyers work with the system of rules and laws that are in place to correct societal wrongs and maintain social stability. They advise clients, organizations and businesses with which direction they should take according to the legal theory and issue in order to deliver justice.

Emergency Room Physicians: $220,000 – $290,000 per year

Emergency Room Physicians must provide immediate care and treatment to patients who arrive in the emergency room. There are no prior appointments made for the physicians which mean they treat a broad spectrum of injuries and illnesses on the spot.

Marketing Manager: $110,000 – $150,000 per year

Marketing Managers must create an efficient and effective strategy to achieve sales goals. They can do this by creating advertisements and promotions. They can also influence the strategies of the sales team in order to better understand and market a product to the customer.

Sales Director: $95,000 – $150,000 per year

Sales Directors create and organize a sales team. They then train the team and set goals for them while constantly evaluating the feedback they bring back with them in order to improve sales techniques.

Software Developer: $90,000 – $110,000 per year

Software Developers create applications that allow people to accomplish projects on the computer more efficiently. They must be aware of all facts regarding the development process of software and they work with software design, various requirement analysis, program testing and maintenance.

Computer and Informational System Mangers: $115,000 – $140,000 per year

Computer and informational system managers, also known as IT (information technology) professionals, plan, coordinate, and direct computer-related activities in an organization to better improve large projects that require software to simple database management.

Air traffic controller: $100,000 – $130,000 per year

Air traffic controllers organize and direct aircraft on the ground and in the air in order to have efficient takeoffs and prevent collisions.

My uncle is a Dentist, and I must say he does pretty well. I couldn’t work on nasty teeth all day though. I’d much rather be in an office all day.

yeah for sure….orthodontist is a top most earning career….as i do so that’s why i am commenting. in business you always earn what an employee earns but good experience can also earn more then $160,000 – $220,000…

Nice information! Anesthesiologists: $290,000 – $370,000 per year – big income for a year. Let say I can have income range of $160,000 – $220,000 in a year. Almost double income of Anesthesiologist. Anyways, thanks for sharing this facts.

This is good to know when choosing future careers. I hear actuaries make a median salary of $88,000/yr. Although most of the careers on this list receive a higher incomes. However, the training and exams that actuaries need to take are very rigorous.

I think you need to consider the country in which you work in . A dentist working in New Zealand earns slightly less than in the USA..
